Re: New Champ option ?

.The discussion is how to make champ affordable and still keep the competitive flavour in the class. John is right on when he says that to get new teams interested in stepping up to champ the costs must come down. Looking at the big ticket items some are easy to fix and some will take some guts to m...

Re: New Champ option ?

I agree with the 6" carbide rule but that will not reduce costs. Engine cost and speed could be reduced by mandating stock cylinders and non modified oem spec pistons. Chassis cost could be reduced by disallowing titanium studs, carbon fiber backing plates and aluminum billet t nuts and remote ...

Re: New Champ option ?

John I think mixing parts between manufacturers would not be a good idea. It would open up a whole new can of worms sort of like the Vintage SM FA class is going through. I agree that the strokes of current 600 engines are not long enough to cause severe piston speeds or bearing failures to 10K. I w...

Re: New Champ option ?

We have a class very similar to what you are proposing and I think it is a great idea. It is called combo and pits the champs against the factory 600s. It is pretty well even. Obviously Darcy is opposed but it is the future of racing. Putting 28 mm carbs is not any different than running 34s at part...

Re: future of ice oval racing

Darcy you make some very valid points. However we are talking about the long term future of the premier class. It is not a secret that the class is dying. I have heard of many of the top teams that are ready to throw in the towel because they can't afford to compete any more. Engine costs are out of...

Re: future of ice oval racing

John I'm not trying to be a dick head but a clutch without tuning parts is kinda useless. If you read my post I said "clutch setup" not clutch. What do charge for one of your "Polar style" clutches? I wasn't singling you out btw there are teams that put a Crown Royal bag over the...

Re: future of ice oval racing

I like the direction you are steering the Champ class in. However we (CPT) tried a 600 stock based engine class and even with a fairly sizable purse were lucky to have 4 or 5 sleds. We ran a combo class with the 440s and it was a pretty even match up. Sabrina won the last combo race in valcourt agai...

VALCOURT FUEL TESTING

The fuel testing procedures will be the same as last year. We will be taking samples of your fuel on Thursday and Friday. These samples will be tested for compliance and kept as sealed samples throughout the weekend. All pro Champ and Pro F500 entrants must have a fuel sample that passes tech taken ...

Re: Valcourt

Tony you did the only thing you could. Cancelling Boonville was your only option. It's hard to have a race without ice. As I understand the Lowville race has been rescheduled to the week after Roberval if they get some cold weather. The weather this year has not been friendly to track building. I ho...
