I think you would be happier with the xc700. I had one and liked it. Went to an `02 ZR800cc and LOVED it, and now have a ZR900. The ZR700`s were not as strong as the XCSP.

I bouhgt my wife a new 500 delux in 2000. It has a whole 60 miles on it(2 rides from home). She used to like riding on the back of my XLT, so I will most likley trade the 500 on a Pantera 800 for when she goes with and Keep my new zr900 for a few years.
I have a 1.25 on my 800cc and used track lug studs. I did lose a couple this weekend in poor conditions. The 1.25 lugs do deflect(bend)so 1.35 studs are recomended and should work well.
