I'm already covered, but three of the people going with me don't normally carry any since Michigan does not require it. They are checking now to see what it's going to cost and if they can get it done by this weekend.

Does New York require liability insurance on sleds? Nothing I've seen says so, but a friend of mine claims he saw somewhere that it did.

When I picked up my sled, the dealer even told me to run it as loose as I can with out it slipping.

I won't argue that it's not better. I just simply wondered if it's necessary.

Why run regular over synthetic? You answered your own question. I'm a cheap azz! As long as it's safe. I just get the impression the manufacturers are pushing the synthetic and have everyone brain washed. That why I wanted to know what people think.

I'm not all too familiar with cats, but if it's like Ski Doo or Polaris, the shaft that is disconnected is actually the front mount for the hole suspension. Not enough information if you ask me. I doubt one bad idler will keep the track from turning. Did it just lock up on him while riding?

Speaking of oil.... What are people's thoughts on synthetic? My dealer told me I have to run it, but my manual says standard is fine. With the amount of oil that these use, $30-$35/gal. is harsh!! Since my manual says I can, I'm going to run regular for the next trip and see how it effects it.

I"ve got an '04 Renegade 800H.O. It uses a ton more oil than my Polaris's did, but not quite as much as yours. I'ld have it looked at.
