Re: Real issue is no place for kids

TJ, I don't see why we would need to have a chassis builder when you can buy a complete sled that would work almost the same for a few hundred dollars. If a person has a large budget and doesn't want to do it them selves they can still hire someone to build them a complete sled using the Indy lite a...

Re: Real issue is no place for kids

The difference is around 10k, a new Wahl or Houle chassis will set you back around 15k, under my rules you could build a front runner for 5k. {Less if you have mechanical ability} Yes, they will outgrow it but I think it's more important to build a sled that fits their size better and just sell it w...

Re: Real issue is no place for kids

TJ, You are on the right track with this idea. Currently there is no good option between modified kitty cats and F-500. The junior sprint rules pretty much allow a full blown {15-20K} Champ chassis with 70mph speeds. 10 to 13 year old kids are usually too small too SAFELY drive a F-500 size sled. We...

Re: New Champ option ?

TJ, I agree that engine costs are not the biggest problem but we do have a problem with parts availability. I know there are quite a few racers that are considering getting in to Champ that lean toward a stock or spec. engine option even though we know it really doesn't save money. I just think it's...

Re: New Champ option ?

None of these engines have a stroke long enough to be a problem at 10,000 rpm. There really has never been equality among the 3 engine brands in hp output or chassis fitment but if we are allowed to modify, mix & match parts with only a cc and carb limit {kinda like it is now only a few more opt...

Re: New Champ option ?

We are not talking about a "spec" engine, these sleeved down 600's would run under the same modified 440 rules we currently have so racers and engine builders just have more parts to choose from to reach the current 440cc limit. If we are allowed to mix and match cyls, cranks, cases etc. f...

Re: New Champ option ?

TJ,
You are correct, the Arctic motor requires the chassis to be designed differently but it can be done.
Dustin Wahl has suggested that we allow 600's sleeved down to 440, this could be an option because it would not effect current engine programs.

Re: New Champ option ?

Rules like that would just cause a few current Champ teams to quit because of greatly increased new engine expenses and would certainly not encourage teams with less $$ or tuning expertise to jump in. Your response sounds a lot like TJ with just another name. It's hard to believe any promoter would ...

Re: New Champ option ?

TJ, The engine rules I am proposing are VERY different from the snocross rules. They ran stock engines with fuel injection so you were screwed if you didn't have the connections for the best fuel/ignition mapping. Supposedly "totally stock" engine rules never work just because of the reaso...

New Champ option ?

It is really important that we don't loose current Champ teams while trying to attract new ones so I am proposing we leave the current Champ rules alone and just add "option #2" that would compete head to head with current Champs. Option #2- would be more appealing to racers on smaller bud...
