Re: future of ice oval racing

It is exactly that light dusty stuff that hangs in the air, causing visibility issues, not the chunks of ice.

Re: future of ice oval racing

Brushes help on a LARGE DIAMATER wheel slinging WATER, totally different than dust. No comparison.
Follow that same truck down a highway covered with a light dusting of really cold snow and you will see the brushes do no good at all. John H.

Re: future of ice oval racing

TJ, I completely agree with your thoughts on forming a small group of people that have experience, knowledge and passion to make the best decisions for the sport of ice oval racing. The current method of allowing 1 vote from each organization has not worked very well, even though most have good inte...

Re: future of ice oval racing

TJ, I know you had good intentions but Nobody tried the brushes because it was a crazy idea. You are correct about snow dust being a big problem in many ways but I am not sure we can do much about it. I have studied the problem from various angles and found that the dust is caused mostly by the air ...

Re: future of ice oval racing

Darcy, Very good points made and I agree with most of them. The biggest reason I suggested we start discussing the 600 engines is that I believe it will happen in a few years anyway and we need to put our heads together and figure out the best package. I personally think that stock engines are borin...

Re: future of ice oval racing

TJ, The 29k price tag IS EXACTLY MY POINT!! If we had COMMON SENSE RULES for a sport that will NEVER HAVE BIG MONEY SPONSORS AVAILABLE in any numbers I could sell a complete sled for 19k. It may not be the whole answer but thankfully there are only about 3 of you guys that are blind to the facts we ...

Re: future of ice oval racing

You guys that don't have the oysters to put your real name out there have very little credibility in my eyes. If money has nothing to do with numbers how do you explain the FACT that there are 2 or 3 times as many F-500's as there is Champs??? It's certainly not for the purse money. You are correct ...

Re: future of ice oval racing

Howard, The main reasons the "factory 600" class died is because it was too expensive to be a non-premiere class {most exotic Champ stuff was still allowed} and the "spec" hand built single pipe was impossible to tech. You need to get your facts straight! The clutches we use are ...

Re: future of ice oval racing

Carbon fibre hoods are not a big advantage and they do last longer, IF we were to allow ANY carbon fibre it would be only the hood, especially since quite a few guys already have them.
One other rule I would like to see added:
No moveable or adjustable aerodynamic devices allowed.

Re: future of ice oval racing

The biggest reasons to allow head cutting is to make it easier on the tech guys. Thoroughly checking flat plate volume, installed volume, squish thickness, squish angle, and dome shape is a very time consuming process and machining heads is not very expensive anyway. A CREATIVE engine guy can find a...
