Jeff Ludwig hat's off

Postby teambehnracing » February 27th, 2007, 3:03 pm

Just wanted to mention, as a racer and a promoter, that Jeff Ludwig's last race of his long career was one to be remembered. Jeff has forever(35 years of racing) been a class act. Both on and off the track. The Fire on Ice group in Weyauwega was honored to have Jeff race his last race on our track. Way to go Jeff and good luck in the future

Jeff Ludwig hat's off

The main oval racing team I have worked with for years, that weekend, concluded 35 years of racing as racing a team. Team owner and driver Jeff Ludwig of Freedom WI, retired as a driver at the conclusion of the race event in Weyauwega WI hosted by the United States Snowmobile Association. Jeff had a pretty good weekend.
Results follow

Open 600 heat 1 1st
Open 600 heat 2 1st
Open 600 Final 1st and this was running our 440 cc engine

Sprint 600 heat 1 1st
Sprint 600 heat 2 1st
Sprint 600Final 2nd

Champ Feature event 440cc
Heat 1 1st
Heat 2 1st
Heat 3 1st
Final 1st by more than a straightaway

Lisa Ludwig, Jeff's wife road with him for his last checkered flag lap as the crowd stood with applause.
After the final heat of racing the entire Champ field joined us on the starting line for a closing ceremony. The Checkered flag was signed by the flag man and presented to Jeff.

I have prepared engines for Jeff since 1982 and it is a sad day for me and all of oval racing as this run now is over. L
The entire Ludwig racing team and family, has my gratitude and respect. They are class, as the banner on the back of the trailer says.

Over the years this Team and I have seen, the good, the bad, and the ugly as if only someone that goes to war could experience. There are tears in my eyes as I write this.
There is no team is racing like these guys. They are my friends!

As so many times in the past, all Jeff can do now is look back. So many years of great memories make it all worth while.

This year stated with an injury in Canada that he has still not recovered from, but he got out alive. Some of our friends were not as fortunate.

You'll be missed #21. We'll have to go to WIR on Thursday nights to see you from now on. Good luck with the new store and good health.

Jeff Ludwig hat's off

Postby CoryEwingdeactivated » March 3rd, 2007, 6:12 am

I will always remember the day that Jeff retired. I am thankful to have been there to witness it.

No one but Jeff himself, (and maybe Lisa) will ever know how much it took to have a career like Jeff Ludwig's. One of a kind.

Next stop, Hall of Fame my friend.
