New Champ option ?

I don't fully agree with TJ about the lack of Jr drivers. This year is the BEST year I have seen in years for new and experienced Jr drivers. You don't see them at all the races but if you follow CPTC, CMPR, ORA, and USSA you will see there are many Jr drivers in various stages. Several new Jr Stock drivers this year ( including one with Peterson as a last name ), Several new Jr 1 Sprint drivers this year. A very talented group of Jr 2 F500 and Jr 2 Sprint drivers. Several new female Jr drivers and several new Jr 1 or Jr2 F500 drivers. We can always use more Jr drivers but the competition and number of competitors this year has been very good. Not only are the Jr drivers strong competitors they are friends off the track. If more Champ drivers paid attention to the Jr drivers we might be able to retain more of them. Glen Hart went out of his way to talk to and help Jr drivers and their teams. Thank you Glen.

I don't have, nor will I ever have, a dog in the Champ race. In my opinion the single most important 'thing' that needs to be addressed in Champ racing is SAFETY. We need to find a way to improve visibility and make crashes less severe. Slowing them down is a starting point but much more needs to be done. Safety has been talked about for years with NO ACTION.

Marti There is good news coming and should help with safety if used for next year. This year at the Soo, the folks tried a process on the track that really took care of the issue of snow dust and all were pleased with it. I don't know the exact cost for the track, but I'm sure somebody will chime in. Word on the street is for sure it will be used at the Soo again next year. Maybe even a few drivers from the race will comment

Marti I agree whole hearted...Safety should be the main issue...I read the rules for Jrs and agree and would not really change much, BUT what are there are only a maybe couple in the classes...the largest hrs class I see is J2, and they put on the best race of the day usually!!! Only 4-6 riders!! They all get along great too!! So the question is how do we get them from Kitty Cats to Jrs?? If I can do anything to help please let me know..

I sponsor the Jr 2 class at Ironwood and one of my prerequisites is that all the Jr 2 racers sit WITH (in between)the champ riders in the autograph sessions...The champ riders need to take a few under there wings and offer help if and when asked..

Lets all hope that safety gets better so everyone feels safer...

The answer to attracting more junior racers is simple. Just copy moto-x or cart example.
EASY ACCESS to relatively inexpensive SPEC. TYPE race machines that are relatively simple to drive and tune!
Moto-x would never have grown like it did if you had to be a mechanical wizard to build a competitive bike for your kid {like snowmobile racing}.
Using the new 200 cc sleds with spec carbides and studs with very few changes allowed is fine for 1 class and we have F-500 that works well for the upper level but we really need a SPEC. mid size sled like a 340 fan that could be purchased race-ready from 1 or 2 suppliers with little mechanical knowledge needed to be competitive.
We will never have healthy numbers in all junior classes unless we follow the PROVEN template from moto-x.
Very few parents have the ability or desire to build or tune race sleds. It's that simple!

After building and tuning ice oval sleds since the 80's it is obvious to me that the simplest way to slow Champ sleds slightly and make them safer is to reduce front end grip, which is simply done by using shorter carbides.
I have had numerous Champ drivers win races with 6 or 8 inch carbides so don't believe anyone who says that shorter carbides will reduce control and make sleds more dangerous, that's B.S. A current Champ sled needs to be so hooked up to be competitive that just a slight nudge from another racer sends them tumbling, they need to slide a little to be safer.
When I first proposed 6 inch carbides for F-500 sleds most guys said it wouldn't work but now we have seen it has made great racing and they are quite a bit easier to drive. John H.

the shorter carbides may help reduce the snow dust and also might reduce a bit on how rough the race tracks get too.

Don't be shocked if you've got to buy the phentermine from the physician for much more than a pharmacy would charge you. Phentermine has certain results on the brain, which can have a sense of euphoria and a heightened feeling of energy. A couple of years back, it was initially acquainted with the general business sector as a dietary medication that you can use to shed pounds. It is a brilliant drug for weight loss and will help you to lose weight very quickly and although it is safe to use. It is a potent agent, so it should be taken under the supervision of a qualified specialist. It has been used for a few years to suppress appetite in patients willing to lose weight. why go with phentermine Everyone is apparently trying to shed weight nowadays. Explain that slimming down is problematic for you even with a wholesome diet program and exercise. Now, a lot of people have actually put in several extra weight. PhenQ works and assist you shed weight in fast moment. Regardless, there has not been any proof to backup the claims that it may help people with losing weight. jhooper/HRE wrote:It is really important that we don't loose current Champ teams while trying to attract new ones so I am proposing we leave the current Champ rules alone and just add "option #2" that would compete head to head with current Champs.
Option #2- would be more appealing to racers on smaller budgets and maybe less engine tuning skills.
This 2nd option would look something like this:
#1- No titanium, magnesium or carbon fibre allowed {except carbon fibre reeds allowed}.
#2- no belt drives allowed, chains only
#3- production 600 engine with twin pipes and spec. carbs, no mods allowed except heads, reeds, exhaust port and ignition reprogram.
#4- 400 LBS. weight rule {we would need to do some testing to figure out a fair carb size to equalize hp to weight with these 2 engine options}
These engine rules would keep costs down considerably without making this option #2 completely lame to mechanics and spectators.
I believe totally stock engines are boring to most people and do not belong in the premier class.
