Driver classification

Since we are all talking about rules. Here is a subject I think ISR should consider spelling out in the rules book. Basicly what drivers can race in what classes. It is spelled out about junior advancement on page 144. But when a junior driver he/she can race in any class accept for pro-champ where you have to be 16. But there is nothing to say a 16 year old can not race junior 1 sprint and pro-champ at the same race. Here is another question can a pro-champ rider race in F-500 or limited 500? It has aways been my understanding and good racer edicate that you could race up 1 class but a down. Some groups have defined this very well in the f-500 classes. Something to think about, because if you are letting 16 year old semi-pro champ riders racing in junior 1 sprint or a pro-champ racer race sport f-500 it is going to deture new racers. Most teams will not do this but some may. Just something to consider.

Greg, i don't think this is a ISR Issue. That is what your Board is for. Put it in writting and post it, who can move up or down and make yourself a Pro list. EPT & PRO had a list a few years ago, think Marcel F & Tony P made it. They had there Drivers and Western Driver listed. USSA made a list a few years ago too, but don't think have it anymore. ER I don't beleive follow the list, it was a feel for all there. i can't say what BJ did.

When you call a Class Pro (PRO F-500) BECAREFUL. Limited 500/600 when i was part of USSA, It was open to all Semi & Pro Drivers.

As for Jr's have it in your By Laws, if advancement is aproved by the Board or Committiee have it in writting were He/She can also drive, if you do allow them to drive in Pro/Semi-Pro/Sport/Jrs Classs.

Do follow the Jr Advancement guilde line in the ISR Book.

Here is the rules that EPT used in 2011. For 2012 & 2013, there might have been minor changes.

Driver classification

Very well spelled out Marcel. I guess my point is if we can get it written in the ISR book then all ISR affiliated groups would follow the same guide lines so the rules would be the same wherever you go to race. It is simple and it is exactly what you do.
A driver may race up 1 class but not down. Case in point I do not think a driver should be allowed to win a world championship in semi-pro champ and junior 1 sprint in the same year. It is not right to let a experienced semi-pro champ rider race against junior 1 riders. I believe this will only help with junior advancement and bridge the gap between race groups. This only my opinion. Thanks

"A driver may race up 1 class but not down. "

That confuses me, We started 2 years ago in Sprint 600, This year we built a F 500 and have been racing usually which ever 2 of the F 500 classes fit well into the scheduled of the day ( time between races) so where does that leave us?
