Believe me Ken, Danny's Doo's are always dialed in. He has won several ice drags in southern Mn. the last few years. Another thing many don't realize about 2002 and 2003 std. Vipers. They came with those cement truck shocks in them. If you leave them in ,the sled does not weight transfer worth a darn. My small dealer sold 29 Vipers in 2002 and only 9 guys(my Dad and I included) had the updated shocks installed. As we know, the holeshot is huge when drag racing. My sled holeshots very good since I swappped the shocks out.

In 2003 the Viper ER (electric start/reverse) had the upgraded shocks, while they left the stiff shocks in the standard start models. M-10 suspensions ride nice, but are not the greatest for drag racing your buddies. The Polaris guys can tell you that from their previous history on stock Egde models. Polaris admitted the M-10's were plush, but for racing they recommended the Edge rear skid.
If it was my '02 Viper, then it would win. I have NEVER been beaten by a smaller cc sled period. In fact I outran a F7 stocker last year in a 1/4 mile. We have two stock Vipers that run very strong. I have a relative that's contemplating the Fusion 600HO. I hope he buys it so I can have a crack at him. He dumped his '02 XC800 Edge because he was sick of us out running him (bad in fact). One of our neighbors drag races ice and when my Viper was brand new with premix and no studs, I snuck by his prepped MXZ800 on my sleds maiden ride. I believe Vipers are inconsistent. Some have lower stock compression than others. Ours run 128-130/145/145 while I have heard many that are much lower. That makes all the difference in the world.
i don't believe any of that, an f7 would kick your ass, and so would an 800XC, yamahas arent very fast sleds.

XC800 LOL!! My uncle had one, a 2002 EDGE ....got rid of it. My Viper ate that thing up for lunch. In fact I have raced about a dozen of them on Lake Gogebic and non have been a good race. POLARIS..On the way out!! Yes the F7 should have killed me, but it didn't. It was bone stock. F7's are like any other sled. You need to do some tinkering to get them to run, but then lookout.
