110mph on a moded out 1998 ZR600 EFI LE.

polarisman415.....I think your speedo was broken. 120mph is hard to believe on that size of machine. Sorry.

Fast enough to know that I should be looking in front of me and not trying to figure out what the h**l the speedo was doing...

Michahicks -

I couldn't agree more. Hopefully everyone above is quoting RADAR GUN speeds & not from "staring at the pretty needle on the speedo". NO WAY should you be glancing down at your speedo at high speeds, even if you're on a barren frozen lake with no trees or obstacles in sight. When one takes his eyes off of whats ahead, your arms also unconsciously also tend to "float". All it'll take is a slight misalignment of your arms, followed by a quick over-correction to send you in a nasty tumble. Not worth it. Have a buddy zap you with a gun; far more accurate & safe.

A lake we go to in Wisc. has radar runs and drags every year. They clear a path for a 1000' run and a 1500' to 2000' shut down, thats about 3000'. We take off and run just about the whole length. I have checked out my speedo and it looked like 110 on a 96 XLT, but we all know speedos on sleds tend to read fast. I have also gone about that fast if not faster (according to the speedo) on a 1993 Wildcat 700, 98 Ultra and a 2001 xc600sp. on normal snow pack, not a radar run track. I have been clocked at 73 mph on my old 90 indy 500 in 600'. I agree that you should be checking out what is in front of you when going that fast, but I think we all glance at the guages every now and then. THINK SNOW!!!
