spend the money and get a good one right off the bat. i have had a cannon elph (elf) for the last two years and it is the definative ditigal camera, very small, takes good pictures, and it had a two year warranty. i paid $400 bucks for it, but haven't had one problem. must have taken over 2000 pictures with it so far.

Walgreens. $9.99 and free film as long as the camera lasts. I have 2 of them. So far so good. When you take it in to get the film developed they put new film in it for you, $ no charge $. Then ask for the photo CD of your pics(sometimes free) that way you can post them ASAP.
I also have the ol' PENTAX K1000 and some new Nikkon thing that I hate.

we have a fugi finepix digital camera, i love it it works great, and its easy to use, the only problem is it costs like $300 but its worth it if you want to save money for film, you can look at your pics on your computer, and if you want pictures made you just send thim in via email!

Sony Mavica. Can't remember the model, kinda big and bulky but it has 10x optical zoom. That is the only reason I keep it. Also only paid $100 for it. As soon as I can find one that has at least 3x OPTICAL zoom or better that is lighter (at a reasonable price) I will buy it.

Canon S30. They are running around $400 right now if you look hard enough online. It is 3.2 megapixels and is simple to use. Excellent photo quality and is rated really high.
