No doubt about it, Yamaha has come up with an awesome TRAIL sled, I rode one last year it was super smooth on the TRAILS. We live in the mountains, our first snow arrives at the beginning of November and we have steady powder through March. Most of us ride 800 RMK's a few Cats and Doo's are there also, they are all deep powder machines and after watching this buddy hitting three feet of powder and deeper with his RX1 you quickly come to the conclusion that this sled is no good in deep powder. But a great sled no doubt.

Thanks for the very informative reply M10. I guess mainkats idea of a problem free sled is a little different than my version of one. An ECU problem would be alot of trips to the dealer and many phone calls tacked on to the factory. A winters worth of hassle, all for nothing. I think this explains why the F7's that I have ran into last year were all over the place as far as performance goes. A few would be close to about 60 mph then I would start pulling away when the triple could stretch its legs out. The others were way way back from the start and didn't run good at all. The could have been afraid of opening them up with all the stuff they had going on. If they are not going to hold them open then they should have bought a T660 wagon. I don't know what any of these had as far as reprogramming. All studded too. I think the 04's will be interesting to see because I think they are going to be a step slower than a good running 03. I don't care what the factory guys say about it. They are paid to lie anyway. Time will tell the very first time you line them up. I guess I can't have an 03' silver fighter pilot one without building it myself. We had a few blowups around here with the F7's. Didn't hear too much on the F5's. My nephews had some tach problem and rope problem and hood was cracking by some hood scoop. I know of two F's that had the rope break with very few miles on them. I noticed the bolts coming out on a few and warned the guys about it. I wouldn't want to see what kind of damage that would cause. It is these little things that bug me the most about all sleds. My Viper's rope rubs on the chain case and has buffed a little groove in it. Someday I'll be going ass over tin cup when it breaks. lol

The 04s are not slower that I know of yet. The only change that would affect speed is the changed drivers. They went from 10 down to 9, but they changed gearing and clutching to compensate. Again, none of those problems were constant trips to the dealers. it was one trip at the end of the season. The people that had ECUs reprogrammed during the season could have them changed back for free with no hassle. There was no consistency to the oil pump problem so Cat had a hard time finding it without recalling all the sleds and testing each one at the factory themselves (no manufacturer would do that).

Rothsay, evidently the guy with the RX1 didn't know how to set it up for powder, the bunch I ride with here will tell you different about the RX1 being no good in powder. No one could touch Dave's RX1 last year in the steep and deep. He has a 159 so he has an edge on me, but no one else I ride with out climbed mine. Skunk, I heard about buildup there in the tunnel, mine had some ice there too, but not enough to be a problem. The sleds with coolers in the rear all built ice there about the same. Sorry to blow your trash out of the water.

Blow my trash out of the water??......I was just tryin to remember if you had any ice build up in your suspension. And you said you did..thanks. Not trashin buddy...jus learnin.

Sorry Skunk, I was out of line. I had a bad day, but that's no excuse. Anyway, no, I didn't have a problem with it, no worse than with my 800.
