River Floating (Summer Off Topic)

Postby treewakr » October 2nd, 2003, 3:41 pm

Do you folks in the midwest do much river floating? We do quite a bit here. This is the Middle Fork of the Flathead River we floated a few weeks ago. It's near Glacier Park. Water only gets to about 55 degrees.

Tree..you're makin me cry...I love Montana. One of my best friends lives up in Libby, and I spent some time with him when he was down in Missoula..years ago...swam in the Clark Fork river. Pretty cold.
We camped in Glacier...Upper Kintla lake.
Never take it for granted..it's beautiful out there.
We tried to make it out this summer, but had problems..

As far as floating, I just float in the pool...and look up at clouds that look like F cats...wait...there's one...oh no...it's blowing apart!!!!!!!!!!!

Like the guy from Lewiston said Bill, they do it in a canoe around here, and not just float and drink cocktails and beer either. By the way, the last piece of the puzzle for the trip out there is in place, I just confirmed the reservation for an AC Mountain Cat 600 at the Hot Springs Resort, so got nothing to do but wait, and hope I get lots of miles here before I head out there. I'am thinkin I should probably rent a car at the airport, so I don't have to depend on you guys to get me back and forth from where ever we ride to Missoula. Nice talking to ya the other nite, and I'll be staying in touch.

i fly fish, and the canoers can get pretty annoying. i'm a big boy, and can share the river with them, but a little courtesy would be nice. like, can you go behind me? or at least not go right thru the hole i'm working. some of the guys are pretty cool about it, but there is nothing worse than looking over your shoulder and seeing 14 rentals comming your way.

...listen to me.... i sound like the cross country skiiers griping about those damn snowmobilers.
