F7...Still Undependable And Even Slower This Year.

I was talking to the head tech at the Cat shop yesterday, he was telling me they made some internal changes on the F7 engine to detune it, but he also said they didn't address the problem that makes them weak. He said the crank journals and bottom end are weak and the pistons are a crummy design. He expects to see them back in the shop again this year. Has anyone else heard this?

Good Grief M10, don't gun me down. I was just asking if anyone else has heard that. I have heard both ways, but I guess time will tell. I hope they do get them dependable. I'd hate to be one of those poor saps that laid my money down, then had to drag it back to the Cat Shop for a winter's nap while waiting for more bad parts. I felt sorry for the poor suckers, really I did.

LMFAO, HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, BWWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHHAAHAH, Treewker, you are so full of sh!t. Yup, that sounds like what a CAT tech would tell someone. And that sounds like something they would do just, make all those changes to cause all those problems.......Also, CAT doesn't have that fast of a turn around time with Suzuki. That is why polaris went away from from FUJI.

YOU ****ING GUZZLING WAD. lmao!

seriously, there is now way they can make changes in less than a year to the engine. They have to design, build and test. IMPOSSIBLE.

Wacker reveal the person you talked to? The 04 F7 has been dynoed and put out the same hp as the 03 F7. Would you like me to send you photos of my pretty 03 pistons? I just took the pipe off to look at them. They look great at 2450 miles.
Was at my Cat Yamaha dealer. They just put all the sleds out. 3 Yamahas on the floor and 20 Cats. The Cats went from the Z120 all the way up to the big touring models. The salesman said no one is buying the Yamahas they were (all 3 of them) sitting like a needle in a haystack. A pathetic lineup.
