More race results and newsflash for 04 F7 owners

Went out today and did some more racing, 1/2 mile on a plowed road. Here is what we had: clutched 04 RX-1, stock 03 ZR 900, 04 F7, 03 F7, 99 Thundercat mods unknown but looked stock, and my clutched 03 ZR 900. First race was the two 900''s. Off the line I got out in front by 2 lengths and pulled 2 more lengths in mid range. Top end we were the same and crossed the line 4 lengths apart at 108 mph on the gun. Next run was my 900 vs. the 03 F7, I pulled 4 lengths or so in mid range and hit the line at 108 again, the F7 was 105. Next run was my 900 vs. the Tcat, off the jump I pulled 4-5 lengths but he caught me at about 90 mph and went by me, he hit 113 and I hit 109 and we had ran over a 1/2 mile that time. The 04 RX-1 didn''t race against anyone (no studs) but made a rolling start pass on the gun and hit 105 mph(hee hee). Then the two F7''s ran and the 03 beat the 04 by around 3-4 lengths, 106 for the 03, 103 for the 04. Later in the day the 04 F7''s pipe blew apart right at the U in front, our local dealer has about 4 or 5 04 F7''s sitting in the shop with blown pipes, big problems with them. Not one of the 04 F7''s he has for sale have a pipe on them right now because they gave them to people who blew them apart. The owner of the dealership has one and his blew apart too. I''m pretty happy with the 900, the Firecats still have some issues apparently. Next weekend we will do it all over again.

zert,congrats,sounds like you got yourself a good sled....even tho it is cat crap LOL,hope it stays together!!brothers friend scott has 1 he has 1200 miles and no problems!

I forgot to mention that we saw Ski-Doo Summit on fire out on Brimley Bay. Looked like a bonfire! We stopped and helped the two young fellas put it out with snow, the entire inside of the hood and motor were burned pretty bad. They were out riding while their dad was in the casino, poor chaps.

No way man. NOT POSSABLE! A SKI-DOO cant burn. It could never happen. Oh sorry man I sounded like a sheep there for a second. So whats the deal on those pipes? Are they blowing during hard acceleration or are they loading up on deacceleration? Or is cat scratching there heads as usual??

It costs money to be the fastest. Every sled head that ever wanted to beat another sled head in a sled race knows that. When are you guys gonna get past the wrenchin an start talkin about which sleds are performin the best in the different sleddin situations?......like zert does first.

The Firecat pipes (along with alot of others) are pressed together instead of welded. Seems that some of the 03 and most of the 04 Firecat pipes aren't holding together where they were pressed. Few people have had them welded along the edge and they hold up just fine.

A guy with an 03 F7 has had 5 pipes on his sled and all have busted. He also has an 04 F7 and it's pipe busted already. I saw one go today with my own eyes and it is a ridiculous thing to have happen, I would be PIZZED!!!!! The sled is now parked until a replacement pipe arrives and that just plain sucks azz. From early season results, the 04 F7 is slower and the pipe is junk. I'm a diehard Cat guy but the Firecat problems are ridiculous if you ask me, glad I didn't get one. I know some of you have Firecats that haven't had any problems and that is great for you, but overall there have been way too many issues with them in my opinion. The dang things are fast, but you can't go fast when it's busted now can ya? I like the way they look but don't see myself getting one anytime soon, downtime just makes me plain pissy! Glad to be on a ZR.
