Anyhow, this sled appears stock, pretty tame and boring. The motor is a 1200cc that makes around 230-240 HP, at 130 lbs compression. The motor went into the chassis fairly easy, just needed to make a bracket for the mag side. Then mill out a torque plate for the motor. It runs super smooth, and feels like an ape trying to rip your arms off. Project started right around Thanksgiving. Runs a 1080 belt, 80.5 gram weights, going to get a Cat roller clutch going soon. Motor weighs 20 lbs more than a twin 800, but the triple pipes weigh less than a stock single with can. The airbox is also lighter than stock. Sled is a 2002 RMK 700 w/ 144" track. Will have weigh scale slips on this sled soon, guessing around 515 lbs., and we haven't even started with the lightweight stuff. The pipes have about 35 hours of time into them alone, and they are 3 800 twin stampings from SLP. Naturally aspirated, pump gas, 230 HP, cost: less than a new 2004 sled of equal track size, can't beat that.

This motor is NOT, I repeat NOT a 800 XCR with some mad big bore.... It is a watercraft 1200 bottom end, with two 800 twin cranks mated together at 120 degrees. The cylinders are stock 800 VES with stock 800 twin pistons. The head is a UnionBay billet. I put a pic of the top of the chaincase in to show how the recoil rope was routed, to any Edge owner, they should notice that the stinger exits out the stock hole of the bellypan, and the recoil is right there by it. This thing is stone stock Polaris parts, and is 5" longer than an XCR 800 motor. That's why it uses 3 SLP 800 twin pipes.

BTW, that red windshield is coming off the sled..... The sleeper look is meant mostly as a theft deterrent.

That's pretty trick! Looks like it's gonna be a bit of a bear to change belts on, and maybe the primary is gonna run a little warm, but it goes to show you... The perfect sled is just hours and $$$$ away. Good Job.

The belt cover isn't hinged, it is double pinned. So pull the pins and the cover is off. The stinger is wrapped with a silicone impregnated header wrap, after it has been run for a while, I can grab the stinger with my bare hands. And it takes one spring to pull that stinger out..... It's the only way to keep the stock hood.

But like I said, this sled was cheaper to build than the cost of a new 2004 sled..... Anyone want to stack their 2004 against it with a hill in front of them??

Haha, I seen that first pic last night before you posted the other ones... I was thinking "whoopdeedoo". But, that's pretty cool. GJ with the pipes, quite often you see holes in the hood for pipes to fit, that's a clever fix though! Gotta be fun!
