Looking For Opinions On ATV's

did you buy a quad yet. if it matters i love my cat atv. i was a huge honda guy until i bought my cat and it rocks. the GROUND CLEARANCE is unbelievable, i got 27 inch tires on it. the towing capacity is highest in 500 class and the rack capacity is highest in class, that is mostly what i use it for, pulling dead trees out of woods and stuff like that. throw it in low and it is a beast. the 650 is nice, hoping that by august i can have one. the cat is geared a little different from the prarie so i won't have quite the top end, however you get that little but more low end torque. either way get what fits you best. the grizzly is a nice machine, but i wanted ground clearance. and the grizzly is a single and the 650 cat is a twin, are they not. so you guys fighting over engine displacement on the two should take that into consideration.

Hey guys, this is where I'm at so far.

I ruled out Polaris...Why? Demand 4WD sucks coming down hills, plus the Polaris machines I rode were under powered for their size in my opinion.

Haven't tried the Hondas yet.

Yamaha: I still need to ride the Grizzly, but if it rides like the Kodiak I'll pass. I don't know if the Grizzly has low range, but if not I won't even ride it.

Kawasaki: I haven't rode the Kawasaki's yet and haven't read up on them.

It's looking like I'll likely buy the 650 Cat. I wish they had the 700 twin, but Kawasaki wants that motor exclusively for their machine.I have been checking prices here, the 650 ranges from $7200.00 without MRP to $7300.00 with MRP from a Ronan dealer. He says he has a Lime green in a crate too. I plan on beating him up a little Saturday when I drive to Missoula.

If you have ruled out the sportsman, make sure you ride a Rincon. I have driven my bro in laws and it is nice.

Wacker I did check out the 650 but did not try it. I have a few friends that swear by the Cat ATV's,
I really like the ditch pickle green with the chrome wheels:)

Wow Whacker, I am surprised that you ruled out Polaris because of being underpowered. Kind of surprising since you ride an RX1, LOL! JK bro ;). Anyway, I would have recomended the Polaris but my next choice would probably be the Cat. I do too believe that the Pol's AWD system is easily the best. That thing flat out rocks. And I don't know what the deal is with everyone talking about the belts getting wet....WTF? Also, look at how many other manu's are using the same drive system now!

Hey Maine, I've always said I'm not brand loyal, I just like the Cat ATV's better than the Yamaha's. Snoboy, the biggest reason I ruled out Polaris is the front wheels are useless coming down hill because they don't lock untill the rear wheels spin, that's not good. Yeah, Ditch Pickle Green with Aluminum wheels.

OK Whacker, I understand what you mean with that. Ya know, I don't even notice that though. As far as I can tell, you would think they are locked in all the time. I have a '98 Sportsman non-HO, and it has gobs of power! Thing doubles as a small tractor too.
