SOTY should be chosen at the end of the season. It means nothing to me.

Sled of the year only means anything if you bought said sled.
And then it's nothing more than a small bragging point at best.
Kinda like winning a drag race with your buds on a local lake, it's great for you, but for 98% of the snowmobilers in the world..it don't mean nothing.

They pick the SOTY before the season actually begins, so that the manu of said sled can sell a bunch of them based on that designation. Wouldn't make much sense doing it at the end of the season when the sled would be a year old. That being said, I agree, I don't know how a few sledheads riding for a few days in Spring type riding conditions can determine one being better than the other. I would think it would take a little more time in the saddle in mid winter riding conditions to make the determination.

SOTY is a joke! As others have said, it should be done after the season!

However, Cat has an awesome product with the "M Series"! I'd like to see an M7 EFI with a 136" x 15" x 1.25" track & 43" ski stance, done up in the SnoPro suspension package for Ontario!!! I think that'd be one hell of a kick ass sled!!!!!

Hey Kevin? How do ya like the ZR 800 vs the ZRT 800? My last 9,000 miles have been on an AC triple, and looks like that's gonna end with my next purchase. More vibration from the twin than the triple?? Got a be a lot easier to throw around though, than my ZRT 800.

I am with Skunk on this one. SOTY should be picked at the end of the year after all of or lack of bugs can be figured out.

Snow Goers "SOTY" should become a prediction....an opinion on what sled they THINK will be 'whatever the reason is for winnin to begin with' for that upcoming season...lol...and then name the actual SOTY of the previous season with the first issue the following season...get it?....

99 SOTY was the XC 700 sp:R

What innovations did it have

Less HP then 98,less MPG then 98,nightmare clutching etc

They should of gave it to the XC 500
