Snapping Turtles....I usually come across one or two every summer.
One was crossing the road in front of the house last night had to push'em off to the side before he got hit.

What's the best way to pick them up without getting "snapped"?

This guy here was about 14" - 15" (shell) front to back.

Thanks!!!

Hopper- last year I came upon one that felt it was necessary to take my fish off the stringer. So I grabbed him up with the landing net and threw his azz in the lake! LOL

Usually if you can find a stick big enough to support there weight they will hang on and you can drag them across the road. With a turtle though always bring them to the side they were going too otherwise they will try and cross again.

if it is a big snapping turtle then i dont think anyone would hit it because it could do serious damage to your car. I'd just kinda shove it by pushing on the back of it's shell but they can reach thier tail with their mouth because they have unusually long necks so i'd just be realy careful.

Let them take their chances with the cars. They will clean out a pond of small bass, crappies, bluegill, baby ducks, anything that they can drag under. They are one of nature's most malicious and ignorant critters.
