I'd still like to add the pellet stove but now even that is becoming unaffordable compared to a couple years ago.
Brother inlaw was telling me about a wood stove that you add to your furnace; uses the same duct work etc...
I grew up w/ a wood burner (Buck stove) and hope to hell I never see one again in my lifetime.[/quote]

My aunt and uncle had that wood/natural gas set up when they lived in Sussex wi.

Pretty cool set up. Gas furnace just kicked in when it got cold.

We use natural gas here. I've got a 75 year old pos frame house that I tyvek wrapped, foam padded, new windows, and insulation in the rooms as I remodel them.

mainecat, I live 1900 feet over a large natural gas field. Check Window Depot for windows $169 installed. I have used them many times in apartment buildings. I will also recieve about $200 per month royalties from the gas co., I can have up to 200,000 cubic feet of gas per year. I am looking into converting my van and Avalanche to cng. Used to spend $300 per month for propane, 10 months per year.

just picked up a Minnesooooota built "Daka" add on wood furnace @ the local Menards. Got outta there with the furnace and all the ductwork I need to install for about a grand. Should pay off in a season if we keep it stoked.
I'll burn anything dry and flammable (cut up pallets) cept pine.
