2002-XCR800-UPDATE!!!!

Postby SLEDHEADRED » February 2nd, 2002, 7:02 am

I have an 02 XCR800, with SLP triple pipes and SLP heads, V-Force reeds,a nd complete clutch kit!
192 studs.Jetting is 440''s across the board!
I just raced my buddies 99 Machz, with a complete clutch kit and dynoport silencer.
Out of the hole, we were even till about 600 ft then I pulled on him,and left him behind!
I really thought I would be a few sled lengths ahead of him by 600 ft.
My tach was reading 8400 rpms, im a big guy, weighing in at a light 265 lbs!
The guys I was racing is only 215.
So, ANY THOUGHTS???
What can I do to go faster, quicker?

Does playing around with the electronic shock on it really work? How about in weight transfer? Does it make a difference there? Sounds to me like you got that thing dialed in pretty good!

I can't think of a good signature so this will have to do for now.

You have to set the shock to full dampening, for optimum hookup!!!
I have yet to trail ride this beast, it should be fun, it handles great!!!
I have got some good tips for the proper clutching and gearing, so maybe ill be able to kick the doo's ass in the first 300 ft.!!!!

Postby NorthernSkunk » February 2nd, 2002, 12:46 pm

In a rutted out mogul filled ditch SHR I would walk on you. I see you haven't trail ridden it yet. Has it even hit a bump yet? sounds like your turnin into one of them amsnot grass/dirt/ice/lake dragracers, lol. I bet you wouldn't even want a real sled-ride challenge from a "stocker", cause we all know its the driver right lol. You wanna go real fast??? get a cat and mod that.

Can you tell I'm in a better mood?......lol
Na i'm done with you, your to much of an ass for me!

Your on a need to know basis and since you never come out here you don't need to know....

2002-XCR800-UPDATE!!!!

Postby SLEDHEADRED » February 2nd, 2002, 10:59 pm

Skunk-yep you would most likely walk the dog on me in a rutted up, mogul infested field or ditch.
But...if you compare me to an amsnot guy again, we are gonna have a problem-LOL.
THERE IS A REASON WHY I OWN 2 SLEDS, I want the best of both worlds, so the next one I get will either be in the Edge chassis or an X chassis, then we wil see SKUNKY old chap! And i will do a little perf. mods and that too, I love to go fast!!!!!

From what I am being told, It is my weight, that is slowing me down out of the hole, so Im gonna raise engagement to 4400, instead of the 3500 its at now, and also gonna replace secondary spring with a Polaris grey, and remove the almond spring!

I knew I would get some razzing, but thats why I come here!

Remember I am co-TRASHER OF THE YEAR!!!!!

Put in longer studs... 1.3"-1.4" with angled backers, problem is with the angled backers is that you probably wouldn't be able to use the same stud holes. My guess is the backer wouldn't touch the lugs where they are at right now. If you did make new holes go with 144 vs 192. Raising the engagement is a good thing as long as you can hook up. With poor studs and higher engagment you'll only spin more. Pull out the coupling blocks too. You may even be better off gearing up a couple of teeth.

Boy I can't wait to ride it!!!

Gear it up? Or down? My friend and I have xcr800. I just got mine, it is stock, geared down one tooth with 196pics. My friend has htg pipes, heads, cluth kit,and reeds. I take him about 2-3 sleds on the start and he can't catch me. I also weigh about 100lbs less. Does this make any sense? Do the pipes and heads really make a difference? Not just riding it,but actually lining up to someone and noticing before and after.
