96 ultra pipes

Postby sportrdr » February 22nd, 2002, 2:09 am

anyone know if the claims are anywhere near true?
decker says+ 40 at 9000 slp says 43 at 8700 dyno port claims 150 horse, 45 horse boost at 8600, these seem crazy, anyone know for a fact if this is fiction or was the did the ultra have that much potential with just pipes?

thanks, Josh

96 ultra pipes

I don't know how close they are, but a friend of mine just put the SLP pipes on his 96 ultra and it feels close. He also replaced the air box with Kickass filters, CNC'ed needles in the carbs, shaved the head, put a thicker jug gasket in, replaced the stock reeds with Boyesen ram valves and clutched it. It's done right and runs REALLY strong. The things you gotta do to make a ploaris go.

Some of the pipe mfg updated the ultra pipes they sold because of a detonation problem. If your looking at used pipes, I don't know how you could tell if the pipes are the updated one so you may want to buy it new from the mfg. They all make a ton more power:
stock -.025 off head 109hp@8000 rpm
stock with SLP 140hp@8250 rpm
stock with PSI stage I 148hp@8500 rpm
stock with Dynoport 149hp@8500 rpm
Ski-rope,2 skis,Turbo...can I pull you around the yard????

Im not one to complement polaris's that much as you all know... but that 96 ultra of your bus sounds like it'll be a nice sled with lots of speed. Better watch it buddy, that polaris may go from the back of the pack to the front
Whether its dirt, snow or grass... the Cat still kicks ass!!!
