Well we dicided this weekend to use Cadillac as our lodging point, and figured we could drive from there to where the snow was. Iw was a pretty good decision.
The Trails right around Cadillac were pretty beaten up, as always, whith the amount of traffic that was on them. Nothing unusual.
Once you got away from town, things improved. Although it was not torn up as bad, there was enough snow to keep the snirt at bay, however on some of the heavily travaled corners, there was lots of ice. Had to be careful with that.
On Saturday, we did the pilgramage up to Boon, then onward up to Mesick. Since there has been nothing but Lake Effect Snow, there is no base, and they have not been able to groom. At times it got to be rather bumpy. On the way back from Mesick, we were on the west side of the loop, the Rails to trails section was not covered that well.
On Saturday night we took an evening we took a night ride out and abouot and found ourselves down in Bristol. The trails south of town seemed to be smoother, yet still icy in the corners. The seasonal roads that the trail follows were in great shape.
On Saturday, we racked up about 125 miles, and decided to go ride over by a friends house down by Reed City on Sunday.
On Sunday the trails/seasonal roads down in the Pere Marquette State Forrest were in pretty decent shape. Although it is not the extensove trail system like Cadillac, we do have fun down there, and it is not that crowded. So we have less/no bumps or the icy corners, then agin we have no grooming either. It is a fun place to play for a short peroid of time
