i have a Skidoo Citation 4500 super sport. When i took it out this year, i had to replace the double wide chain right off. Then i had a problem with my clutch slipping so i had to replace that. Then i had to rip apart my whole steering system because one of my steering shafts broke. Then it was running fine for about a week and the carb got so full of dirt it shut down. After the carb got cleaned, the pull cord snapped trying to start it. Why do the Citations break so much so often???? I appreciate the input.Thanx

Probably has something to do with its age. The Citation was a very reliable sled in its day. The stuff you are having problems with affects all sleds, over time.

You should check your carb boot(s), also. If they split/crack, they will suck in air. This will cause your engine to run fuel lean, resulting in a thermonuclear meltdown of your piston(s).

my brother has an 82 citation 4500 with 6000 miles on it, and never had a thing go worng with it. basic maintaince and storing it indoors will make it last for a very long time.

motor has never been touched, and it still screams for a 377 fan.

the speedo is in kilometers so i have no idea how fast. he also owned an 80 JD liquifire 440 (aaen pipes, 108 exp primary, different gears, low windshield), and it would be pretty even up to 70 with me on the deere, then the deere would just walk away.

had the deere going 95 according to a buddy's radar gun.
