TX 340 engine problem

Postby Polaris_03 » March 18th, 2005, 2:22 pm

Hi guys. I just picked up another Polaris TX 340 today from a guy. I cleaned the carbs, fuel pump, gas tank, and did the works. When I started it the sled ran fine for a couple minutes. After that it started backfiring out of the carb on the clutch side. I killed the motor and started to check it out. I also noticed that the base gasket on that same side was leaking.I also checked and the crankcase is not full of gas or oil. I checked the fuel pump again and it had pressure but still won't run on both sides. Anyone has any other ideas? I am guessing a crank seal went bad on the clutch side or a bearing. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

TX 340 engine problem

Fix the obvious first. Base gasket should be easy on a f/a. Fresh plugs, and try again. Maybe try a compression check, hit the seal with ether
