When you mentioned 'hitting the crank with a hammer', figured it was the primary (pto) clutch. My prim. clutch (on the Yamaha 337) is two parts as I'm sure most are. I think a proper clutch puller would do the trick, think I will buy one. Did read something about NOT pulling the clutch off from the outside edges. The primary has zero bolt holes for pulling.
