s, to not only keep pace with these other teams, but to gain

Postby elaine95 » January 7th, 2020, 8:54 pm

Last year it took awhile before William Jackson started to look like he was himself in the Bengals defense. He doesn’t want that to become a trend."It was a moment I don’t think many Bengals fans will forget. When Bengals’ cornerback William Jackson introduced himself to everybody by intercepting Aaron Rodgers and returning it for a touchdown in a blink of an eye. That was in 2017. Jackson didn’t initially start that season for Cincinnati since Adam Jones was still around Rodney Anderson Jersey 2019 , but it quickly became clear it would be hard to keep Jackson off the field. An injury midway through the season to Jones opened up the full-time starting position to Jackson, and he played at a level Bengals fans haven’t seen probably since Johnathan Joseph. The offseason before the 2018 season really shook things up for the Bengals defense. Former-defensive coordinator Paul Guenther left for Oakland, leaving the job to be filled by Teryl Austin. It turned out not to be the greatest fit for Jackson, and having to learn Austin’s system seemed to be more of a challenge than Jackson may have initially thought. That is something he is prepared to keep from happening again this season with Lou Anarumo at the helm.“From a mental standpoint, everything (last year) was different. Different scheme. Different this. And playing things differently,” Jackson told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “It was a learning curve for me. In the back end of the season, that’s when I kind of picked it up and started getting back to myself … I won’t allow myself (to have a learning curve).”Obviously, Austin’s system had its flaws last season since he didn’t even make it the entire year before he was fired and Marvin Lewis took over that side of the ball. It seemed like a learning experience for Jackson though. This is only going to be his second year that he is going in as a starting cornerback, so he is still learning how seriously he needs to take things like studying the scheme. It also helps that Anarumo’s scheme seems to be more straight forward than Austin’s was.“There’s no gray area right now,” Jackson said. “It’s very down to the point. I’m excited.”Hobson also noted that he has been asking players like Nick Vigil about plays and other specifics of the new scheme. It is obvious to plenty of people how seriously he is trying to avoid another slow start. His position coach, Daronte Jones, can’t help but notice how mature Jackson has become even though he is just entering his prime.“It’s not like he’s a fourth-year player that has been in same system that you can see flourishing,” Jones said. “He’s been going at it. He’s been serious about his work. There’s a lot of learning … (Realizing it) that’s where maturity comes from. He’s definitely grown in that way.”The Bengals can’t help but be happy with the way Jackson is conducting himself off the field as well. After all, they did pick up his fifth-year option on his contract this year. It also likely means that next offseason an extension should be in the works for their young star as well.Looking back you can see that Jackson had all the signs of a player with great intangibles. For example, did you know that Jackson broke his finger against the Falcons or hyperextended his knee against the Dolphins? No? Well neither did anyone else because Jackson played through those injuries to make sure he started all 16 games. His reasoning for not blaming his struggles on injury?“I didn’t really bring that up,” Jackson says. “People don’t care about that … It’s football. My job is not to complain about the injuries I have.”The Bengals have a good one who just keeps getting better. The Bengals are now 1-9 under Marvin Lewis on Sunday Night Football. Why? Because the offense and defense failed miserably against the Chiefs in Week 7.Here’s a recap of all the action.Fourth quarter: To add insult to injury, linebacker Vontaze Burfict left the game with a hip injury and is doubtful to return. The Chiefs took advantage, as Mahomes hit Tyreek Hill for a touchdown and a 45-10 lead. Mason Schreck also joined Burfict as injured and was carted off of the field. Cincinnati’s defense held the Chiefs on a fourth down Color Rush Rodney Anderson Jersey , but brought in their backups on offense to finish out the game. Jeff Driskel moved the ball a little bit at the end of the game, but Kansas City didn’t let up anything at won the game, 45-10. Third quarter:If you thought the Chiefs were going to hit the brakes after the halftime gun, you were wrong. Kansas City marched down the field thanks to Mahomes’ escapability, and Hunt found the end zone for a hat trick and a 24-point lead early in the second half. On the ensuing possession, Cincinnati made the Sunday night disaster complete in one play. Andy Dalton didn’t see Ron Parker and threw a pick six, as the Chiefs went up 38-7. As they attempted to regroup, the offense did go down the field, thanks in large part to pass interference against the Chiefs. The drive culminated in a Randy Bullock field goal to cut the Chiefs’ lead to four touchdowns. Mahomes tried for another go-for-the-throat deep pass to Sammy Watkins, but the Bengals’ defense actually came up with a big play for the first time on the evening. Shawn Williams picked the pass off to put the Bengals’ offense back in business with good field position. Unfortunately, Cincinnati went three-and-out.Second quarter:Unfortunately, the “primetime Bengals” struck again. The offense had a manageable third-and-short, only to be pushed back by a Bobby Hart false start penalty. Then, on the punt attempt, communication wires got crossed, as Clayton Fejedelem apparently believed a fake was the call and fumbled the ball away. Kansas City took advantage immediately, as Hunt took another Mahomes pass into the end zone and a 14-0 lead. Cincinnati pieced together a drive that was filled with penalties from both teams. A.J. Green had three beautiful catches, as Andy Dalton hit C.J. Uzomah for a touchdown on third-and-goal to cut the Chiefs’ lead to 14-7 midway through the second quarter. However Cheap Rodney Anderson Jersey , the Bengals’ defense once again had trouble tackling and getting off of the field, as Kansas City once again marched down the field. Their inability to cover a tight end bit them in the rear ends again as Demetrius Harris grabbed a touchdown just after the two-minute warning for a 21-7 score. After the Bengals squandered another offensive drive, Mahomes and his offense attempted to go for the throat. Butker hit his second attempt of the night, with Kansas City heading into halftime with a 24-7 lead. The Chiefs get the ball to start the second half. First quarter:The Chiefs won the coin toss and opted to defer until after halftime. We knew Cincinnati needed to chew clock and score points, but unfortunately, their offense went three-and-out to begin the contest. After pinning Kansas City at their own 5-yard line, Patrick Mahomes and Co. marched down the field on a number of different plays. Tackling by the Bengals’ defense was poor once again, and Kareem Hunt capped the drive with a six-yard touchdown reception to put the Chiefs up early, 7-0. Kansas City began marching down the field once again after another Cincinnati punt, but the Bengals defense held strong. The Chiefs attempted a field goal, but Harrison Butker pushed the kick wide right and the Bengals took over with good field position, still down 7-0.The Bengals are getting ready to play their second primetime game of the season against the AFC-leading Chiefs. The NFL wisely chose to flex this Week 7 game into the Sunday Night Football slot, and no matter how you feel about that, this is a great chance for the Bengals to show they’re different this season after falling short last week.Last week we saw the Bengals lose in one of the most heart breaking losses at the hands of their most bitter rivals, the Steelers. After taking a three-point lead, Pittsburgh drove down the field with over a minute left and took the lead with a touchdown with just mere seconds remaining in the game.Cincinnati can put that loss behind them with a win over one of the hottest teams in football, the Chiefs. Kansas City suffered their first loss of the season last week at the hands of a close loss to the Patriots. There are worse things in the world than a team’s young quarterback coming up just short to one of the best quarterbacks ever.Still the Chiefs are looking to make a statement after their first loss of the season, and the Bengals are looking to make a statement as well. These teams also happen to be pretty high in the AFC standings as the Chiefs are the number one team at 5-1 Rodney Anderson Jersey Womens , and the Bengals are tied with the Ravens, Chargers, Dolphins and Patriots at 4-2 on the season. The Bengals hold the tiebreaker over the Ravens and Dolphins currently, but it is still important for the Bengals, to not only keep pace with these other teams, but to gain that tiebreaker over the Chiefs as well. Here are the inactives for tonight’s game.
