Clutch sanding

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to lightly sanding the sides of my clutches??? Will it give me less belt slip or more???

I use an emery cloth and it works great!! I dont know if I would do something harsh as "sanding" though. The clutch is smooth for a reason. Just a thought.

after sanding with emery cloth or a scotch pad
wipe them with a good de-greaser like acetone or
something like that.
