To warm to hunt here in Michigan just yet.
Hope fully it will cool down sooner or later or hunting season and riding will suck again this year!

Bowhunting

I took my son out Sunday the 22nd for the last hour or so. We saw 11 deer, no bucks.
Went out last Monday by myself, saw a doe with a yearling and a eight pointer came through a bit later(not quite big enough to shoot).

This was in our local paper this morning. You bowhunters may be interested. I have never bow hunted myself.

bear slain with bow
By AP

POCATELLO, Idaho -- A man armed with a bow shot and killed a mother black bear that had attacked his son while she was protecting her cubs.

Nolan Koller heard his son, Jason Koller, 29, yell for help while the pair were elk hunting Saturday.

"When you hear your son yelling for help, there's only one thing going through your mind and that's, 'Get down there and save him,'" Nolan Koller said.

He said the bear was on top of his son, mauling him. He said he immediately thought, "I've got to kill her, and it's got to be a good shot."

The 90-kg bear then got off Jason Koller and charged. The elder Nolan waited until the bear was close, then shot it through the neck.

"These guys are really good archers, but still, even at that, it was a darn lucky shot," said Larry Hlavaty, senior conservation officer with the Idaho Fish and Game Department.

Jason Koller was in fair condition yesterday at Bannock Regional Medical Center. He had injuries to his arms, legs and head and underwent surgery Saturday.

"I was just hoping my dad could get there as quickly as possible, and he did. He saved me," he said.

We wait until around the end of Oct. to the beginning of Nov. Activity really picks up then with better weather {much cooler} and the bucks going into rut. I still like getting out whenever though when I get the chance. Love the leaves changing and the smell of fall!

Hot, cold who cares anytime in the woods is better than work.
I saw 2 does yesterday morning. Real slow for us but the wind was blowin' hard and swirling.
In the evening a huge storm blew in and the thunder and lightining chased everyone out of the trees and back to camp.

I go out every chance I get. Dear hunting starts 100 yards out the back door. Been doing alot of stalking/scouting lately but the stand is in the tree as soon as more leaves fall.
