ZR 800 peak engine rpm performance

Postby Chadmandew » January 21st, 2002, 5:48 am

I was wondering what the peak engine rpm was supposed to be for the 2002 ZR800 efi, I am only getting around 7400 - 7500 rpm and the sled feels like it needs more R's than that. I had heard that the 800 ZR's were supposed to run upwards of 8000 rpm but I want to make sure before adjusting my secondary. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Your fine if your running 7500. That is peak for that sled.

we got 141.6 at 7500 with a half horse drop at 74 and 76. Falls off SHARP after 7600. These figures are from a warmed up engine. If you're running a drag race with a cold pipe, load the engine a touch more to bring it down around 7200 or 7300.

I'm running at 7,600-7,700 rpm and it's running just fine.
I was told that the EFI model are supposed to turn around 7,600 rpm for maximum performance...which is 200 rpm more than the carb version.
Also, you have to take in consideration that your tach may need to be calibrated...

I forgot to say, I love that new RX1...
It would look nice sittng next to my R1 (blue!)

We'll see next season or mayby the one after before I buy an RX1...I have to put more miles on my 02 sled before thinking of buying an RX1 !!!

Pacman,

I agree, If we were to trade for the 2003 RX-1 we would take it in the shorts so to speak, plus it probably would be a good idea to see how this sled fairs this next year (reliability) I have a feeling that it is going to be a great sled, if it has a good year next year I might be switching to team Blue in 2004. But don't count Arctic Cat out, Suzuki makes some impressive four stroke engines as well, GSXR 1000 would be a great power plant for a sled.
