Secondary Clutch Free Play?

Just wondering if my secondary is supposed to have and play while pusing and pulling on it? It has very little verticle movement, but seems to slide a little when pushed or pulled on. Is this normal for ski-doo's?

In and out or pushing and pulling, yes it should have some play. This allows the belt to stay aligned in the primary and secondary clutches. If it has up and down or side to side play then you have a problem; your jack shaft bearing is bad and needs replaced and it most likely put some nasty gouges in your jack shaft wich will require some welding and relathe(sp) of the jackshaft.

I have wondered about this also, due to my secondary moving in and out between 1/16 - 1/8 th of an inch. oh well as long as it goes forward!!

Thanks, there is no free play side to side or up and down, only in and out. It sleeps, I have around the same amount of free play as you so I guess we're alright. I just thought that I may need a new bushing that goes in behind the secondary but I guess not.
