Cleaning reed valves

Have a 96 Doo FIII. How do I clean the Reed valves on it?

Also, kinda related - I went through deep powder for a while and my sled dropped to about 25% power for a minute. I couldn't stop right away to look at it due to powder on slush on ice on lake conditions. When I inspected shortly after I noticed water on the reeds. Would this cause the reduction in power?

Do you mean the RAVE exhaust valves? The reeds are in your motor attatched to the carb boots and if there was water on them then your motor is probably pooched, pistons anyways.

Yeah, for sure man. I think you mean the RAVE Valves on the exhaust side of your motor...haha

You don't need to clean your REEDS. They may wear out & need to be replaced, but you don't clean them.

Your power loss will probably be either snow plugging your airbox or your carbs iceing. The snow we have right now on the lakes is very fine & seems to get everywhere. Don't go slow, (unless needed for safety, etc..). Punch it & keep the skiis on top of the snow. If you stop, let the sled idle for a bit to melt anything. Make sure you're running Iso.

Your correct, I did mean RAVE valves (big red things on front of Cyls.

Would snow affect these?

why would you need to clean them?

i talked to a guy today about mine..cuz alittle bit of oil was coming outta the middle cylinder on on my machz and he said its either because theres a leak in the gasket on them or the sleds running to rich with oil..

Take the big black caps off and see if you can move them, just push in and out on the rubber bellows. If they stick, clean them.
