I agree with speednut that you can crank out some unbelievable speeds from these machines with the proper work. Having said that, as a Cat owner/rider for over 30 years there is no way in HELL that that Cougar is stock!! Speedo numbers, NOT RADAR, stock machines: 1986 El Tigre 6000 530cc about 95, 1987 Pantera 440 L/Q only does 90 on a good day, 2000 ZR & 2001 ZL 600's do just over the 100 mark. I rode with many of the Cougar 500 F/C's in their earlier days and they couldn't get out of their own way in stock form. So let's be realistic, if you got a Cougar 440 over 100mph, IT AIN'T STOCK!!
