electical problems

I have a '99 a/c powder special 700 and my engine will start for a few minutes and then try to die and the head/tail lights and all the electrical componants would not work. I unplugget the throttle safty switch, but that made no difference. I have been stumped on this problem for 2 weeks now and am about ready to ditch the sled! any advice would be appreciated,

I would just suggest following the electrical wires throughout the whole sled......sounds like a bare wire grounding out. Check all of your connections as well.

I had a Polaris that did that and by changing the electrical regulator, the problem cleared up. Regulators are not very expensive and easy to replace.

I had a 94 ZR 580 and ran into some elec. probs. there were some wires that got rubbed through under the seat by the coolent lines.

i had the same problem chech all the ground wires now my only problem is the key wont kill the motor

I finally found the problem! I needed a ground wire from the engine to the chassis, and the wires from the cdi unit down by the drive shaft under the brake calliper all the rubbed the drive shaft and broke in half. I feel like an idiot for not seeing the obvious things!

I knew that! I lost my ground also last week. Tore into my harness and found the ground broke off....Sometimes things just piss ya off, huh? :(
