Question for Canadians(truck question, off topic)

Hey I am restoring a 1952 Mercury M-1 pickup truck. The odometer says a little over 17,000. I need to know if this in miles or kilometres? As far as the truck, its the same Exact thing as a 52 Ford F-1, from my understanding Ford trucks were U.S, and Mercury trucks were only sold in Canada. The engine is a 239cu in, flathead V-8 with a single barrel Rochester carb.

Hi Guy. I think I can help you with your question about the 52 truck. the change over to kilometers from miles wasn"t done untill 1978. Except for few obscure foreign makes vehicles 1977 and older sold in Canada would"ve been calibrated in miles. Hope this helps.

I think on that age of truck, a 10 year old can turn back the odo, and any fool can change it. Plus, doesn't it wrap at 100,000, instead of 1,000,000? My advice, at that age, the general condition of the truck will tell you much more than mileage.

The truck is actually in pretty good shape, it was last on the road in 65, and sitting in a barn in Canada, untill I got it and now its in my barn. The engine fires right up, all I really need to do is some minor body work and replace the wood in the bed. It has the 3-speed on the colum, which does take some getting used to, if your used to a shifter on the floor. Top speed is about 50-55mph. Anyway it will definatly be a head turner when completed. Also no performance mods are being done, its an all-original restoration.

Nice truck there fella! Yeah, it's calibrated in miles - not kilometers. What else have you got for classics? And do you wanna sell any?

i got a 65, 66, 85, and 86 mustangs, 73 Dodge Challanger 440, and a 77 Trans Am 6.6 litre, and my 52 merc. all run but the 66 mustang.

I know, thats true for about any car left outside up here, cause all the salt they put on roads.
