Polaris dragon???

Is this really the best Polaris can do???? 9.5 MPG, and less HP than a firecat (dragon-135, f-7 141 hp)??? It sure looks like polaris is a day late and a dollar short once again.

I guess it depends on where you get your numbers from. Other sources indicate higher HP, around 140, and better MPG numbers after the updates on the CFI. I would expect 11-15mpg out of the 700.

Polaris dragon???

The Firecat was a lean 700 and fast. However, the chassis was shot after 3000 miles. The motor was really peaky. The Polaris 700 is sweat and smooth. I have nearly 2000 miles on my Dragon and I average ~12.5 miles to a gallon without the lastest update, which should give another 1 to 2. If you read that article a little closer it indicates the IQ chassis is fare beyond that of the fircat. In 2007, it ran right with the F8 and MXZ 800. What am I missing.

Did they use the same dyno for both sleds?

I believe so...yes the dragon does run with an f-8..cat took a step backwards in weight and performance with their f-series..however everybody claims they ride and handle better than the firecats and should be more durable. I have no clue how you are getting 12.5 mpg..two seperate magazine tests are showing under 10 mpg. (snow tech and am snow)

I have never questioned the IQ chassis or suspension. I was shocked it only pulled 135HP...if you read all the hype here last fall, it was 145 HP, and lighter than a firecat...which to me would have been very impressive...however it is not...if the firecat was their target I say they missed it....face it...nobody here wants to buy and new sled and get whipped by a buddy with a 4 yr old sled...I think it would be kind of embarassing for dragon riders if they bought "polaris's biggest and best", and it gets slapped around by an 03 firecat....you can find lots of used firecats for under $4,000 grand around here....if your looking for speed...why would you buy a new dragon???
