who knows there polaris

Is it a liquid or fan cooled sled? Twin cylinder or Triple? Polaris made the Trail Indy, which was a 488 fan cooled, the 400 liquid twin, either the 600 or 650 liquid triple. I am not sure which year they went from the 600 to the 650. The 500 liquid twin came out in 1989. Polaris didn't have a 550 u...

Heated Visor RCA Dash mount

I have been using the Ski Doo kits on all my sleds. They cost about $25 and plug right into a doo wiring harness and mount through a 3/8" hole in the dash. On my 2 cats and 1 polaris I had to change the ends so that it would plug into the accessory plug, but really no big deal.

Looking for 2 sleds for the family

VWbuggyman, I looked up the engine on the Venture and it is carbureted, not fuel injected. The 3 cylinder engine used in the Nytro and the larger 4 cylinder engine in the Apex are both fuel injected, but they haven't added the FI to the Venture/Vector engine yet. That said, the carbureted engine is ...

Thumb Fatigue

The first thing that my wife does when she sits on a snowmobile is squeeze the trottle. She won't even consider a sled unless it has a soft throttle spring. Right now we have 2 Arctic Cats with EFI and a 550 polaris. The throttle wasn't the only consideration when we bought these, but it was importa...

1995 XLT Special

Polaris had a suspension that they produced for one year called the XC 100 I think that transferred weight a little to well and would lift the skis off the ground and you could lose steering and end up in the trees. That was right around 1995, so if this is one of those I would stay away from it.

500 XC?

I would be interested in learning how the 04 Super Sport is jetted. I wonder if Polaris would have run them richer after the recall on the 01's. According to the information that came with my 01, the main jet is a 300 and the pilot jet is a 35. Whitedust, I won't let you ride my sled to hold it wide...

500 XC?

Maybe I just got a good one or something, but the 16 mpg is real. I am not a real aggresive driver, but I do run 50 to 60 mph when running in the UP. The 550 tops out at about 78 under ideal conditions, but I don't hold it wide open because I don't want to blow it up. The track as loose as it can go...

500 XC?

I have had the 550 super sport since new. It now has almost 6000 miles and it has always been good on fuel. I have done the math lots of times an it is generally up around the 16 mpg mark running on hardpack trails. It would drop some if I was breaking trail in deep snow. I took an 800 mile trip wit...

500 XC?

I have an 01 550 Super Sport that pretty consistantly gets 16 mpg or better.
