Retroparts should have them...He's here in Michigan and would have to ship them to you, but he may have a used one he can let go cheap... Maybe let him know you're on a budget and you're tryin' to fix the thing up.

why ???

if your oil injection is unplugged, then it can't be the culprit. You do have it blocked off at the intake so it can't suck air, I take it! The oil pump is on the recoil on your sled, right? If it all started happening after your tuneup then I'd recheck everything. It could even be a faulty condenso...

My new CAD progam!!!

I had a '73 Arctic Cat 650 EXT crankcase reproduced from billet by a friend of mine. He took the original case and put it in a cabinet and pushed a button. Laser beams went crazy inside for a few minutes...then a picture of the case poped up and it was ready to be cut. It took quite some time to mak...

My new CAD progam!!!

Well, with all this talk of backyard types, I had to go and prove that I could make AHoods reed stuffer with a program that didn't cost as much as my house! I think the other backyard mechanics, like lowtekrednek, will be quite proud of my accomplishments. AHood, excuse me for modifying your stuffer...

How to resleeve an engine?

If you can find an oversized piston, and I don't know why you wouldn't be able to due to the popularity of the engine, you should be able to bore it. Try checking with guys that have Wiseco piston inventories. Find an oversize that will get rid of your scoring. Should be able to get a Wiseco for tha...

These cat motors any good??

Being a collector of all old sleds, I gotta say that no one brand has a distinct advantage over the other. The exception to this is Ski Doo. You can send your 454 to the Crank Shop and get back a monster that NO other sled is gonna beat. Not even a Rupp! All of the engines are completely capable of ...

These cat motors any good??

Yes, something did change...Back in 77-78 Polaris had the best handling chassis HANDS DOWN! The other factories, Doo and Cat mainly, caught up very quick. Cat's engine development kinda took a wrong turn, they stuck with that suck a$$ 1/2ree 1/2 piston port design but it still worked better than the...

How to resleeve an engine?

If you want to try it yourself, go down to the local machine shop and ask them if you can watch them sleeve a cylinder, it will be clear how you do it if you can see how it's done. It's quite easy. This only thing is you'll have to take it to a shop to have it finish bored...most of the time it's ea...

These cat motors any good??

I guarantee 110 is possible. Those Z cylinders'll make good power 'freak. You gotta have the right guy do the cylinders and upper case half. I'm over 100 on mine right now with stock pipes. And the stock pipes have a diverging cone that's too long to make good HP numbers when the cylinders are porte...
