2009 and Beyond Class Proposal

I got this list from a very respectable gentleman in the Ice Racing world. He is wondering what you all think of this list of classes for Ice Racing for the future:

JR I Stock - Same Rules as Today (10-13)

JR I Sprint - 380 Fan Stock, Trailing Arm chasis, no titanium, 116" track (12-15)

JR I Sprint Open - 380 Fan Stock, Open chasis, 106" track (12-15)

JR II Stock - 600 Fan Stock, Stock chasis (14-17)

JR II Sprint - 600 Fan Stock, Trailing Arm chasis, no titanium, 116" track (14-17)

JR III Sprint - 600 Fan Stock, Open chasis, 106" track (14-17)

Limited 500 - Same Rules as Today

Formula 500 - Same Rules as Today

Sportsman 600 - Same Rules as Today

Semi-Pro Stock - 600 Liquid, Same Rules as Today

Semi-Pro Sprint - 600 Fan Mod, Trailing Arm chasis, no titanium, 116" track

Semi-Pro Champ - Same Rules as Today

Pro Stock - 600 Liquid, Same Rules as Today

Pro Sprint - Same Rules as Today

Pro Champ - Same Rules as Today

Pro Open - Same Rules as Today

You must be 16 years old to run anything above a JR class. The kids that are 15 who have already made a decision to run those classes in 2009 may be grandfathered in. After 2009, 16 years old.

Now that is a perfect breakdown of the classes. A lot of people like this list thus far. Korinek? Pennington? Scheer? Baker? What do you guys think?

Looks good to me, and Pat the limited 500 class is one class I see growing in numbers in the near future. When you say stock for JR.1 380 and Semi-Pro 600 stock class, do you mean original stock suspensions for those classes?

So if you have a JR 111 Sprint 600 open chassis, no semi pro sprint class to move into. Just champ, not good in my opionion. TK

Pro Sprint. The goal Tom is to keep all levels competitive to a point that we won't be losing any drivers due to them not being competitive.

You throw a driver like Beau Van Strydonk out in Semi-Pro Sprint with his Wahl Chasis, he will never lose. Then all the guys with the lessor chasis's will quit. Just my thoughts. Very good point Tom.

I understand Ice Ghost, I guess the way it looks, most of the older JR racers at age 16 are propably ready for the Pro Classes. Thanks for the reply. TK

Tough to do and think about now, but I think the 106" tracks should only be allowed in a few select classes. Philip

I Think This Would Be Great For Oval Racing, As It Would Give The Lower Budget Teams With A $5000.00 Sled A Place To Race As Well As The $15,000.00 Sleds To Race And Be Competive. Also Maybe You Could Change Semi-Pro & Pro Sprint To Sprint 600 - Minimum 116" Track And Sprint 600 Open To 106" Minimum Track. Just My Thought's
