I checked out USSA's rules and it kinda un clear about the hood qualifacations, Will an Indy hood be ok or will it have to be newer. Polaris's new body styles are totaly different.

Bobby:
Hood must be from a current production snowmobile, old wedge Indy's are no longer produced, so you will need something considerably newer. Watcher built one for his son, 323 had a new style, so it is possible. The concept is to keep the stuff looking new and current.
Hope this helps

Ok mabye I should start over. what class would this sled fit into-

95 XCR 440sp chassis
fox shocks
stock skid
stock 04 proxr 440 motor

I'ld rather not have to change the hood and belly if I don't have to.

I do have a customers 89 500 sitting behind my dads garage I could just offer to him just to give it to me instead of paying his bill and then I've only got about $500 into it as of now.

but that's not what I wan to do. I wanna run that XCR with that 04 440 motor some how. I found the motor straps I need so I'm just about there.

I just read over on the USSA tech forum that the hood only has to be within 15 years, but I think there rules say other wise.

FRAME AND BODY

1. A rear tunnel enclosure is mandatory.
2. Hood must be an OEM production or OEM replica. Hood must not be modified in any manner that prevents it from being recognized as a current production model snowmobile. Colors and paint schemes are at the builder's discretion.
3. No carbon fiber is allowed anywhere on the race sled.
4. Belly pan/lower body is at builder's discretion.

read #2: (hood must not be modified in any manner that prevents it from being ecognized as a current production model snowmobile.)

current production model is the wording you might have missed? if it had the stock motor in it, you could use that hood, becasue ussa allows legal stock 500 or 440 sleds to run in the class.

hope this helps
