LMAO - "enough with the gossip" - coming from the guy who started it all.

Let me guess, it is just what everyone else says that is gossip.

Forums 101 - trying to be a cyber bully typically elicits a response opposite of what you hope for.

Then again, maybe your just hoping the "there is no such thing as bad press" philosophy will work for you.

Stuff just gets deeper and deeper.
Recently I was asked to play in a golf tournament.

At first I said, "Naw, I haven't been playing that well."

Then they said to me, "Come on, it's for handicapped and blind kids."

Then I thought...

Chit, I could win this!

Mr T. here are the facts as I see them!
1)Most current Champ teams do not want spec sleds or engines
2)Champ racing is still the top form of snowmobile oval racing
3)Twintrack racing died due to lack of interest by both the manufacturers and race teams and high cost
4)Champ drivers are professionals and cream of the crop.
5)You have nothing good to say about the current Champ program
6)If you have your way Champ will not be the premier event
7)You are planning to take orders based on a prototype no one has seen
8) You claim to have twenty teams lining up with a checkbook that are both silent and anonamous
9) JV PJ BB are all multi world champions but they have not been contacted
10)Cleated tracks are not legal under ISR rules

If I have any of the facts wrong feel free to correct me!

Champ Racing(Time For A Change)

I'm all for making the sport of ice oval racing bigger and better. It is the most exciting thing to look forward to all year. But there are some things that have been bugging me in some of these posts.

The biggest issue I have is that there are only 20 champ teams that have apparently been contacted. When in reality ALL champ teams should be contacted.

You are trying to start a new class of racing that is supposed to, by the sounds of it, take over champ (maybe not completely, but definitely make it not a main event class). If you don't have the support of all the big named oval racer such as Jacque, Gary, PJ, Bewcyk, Wahl (just to name a few), then you don't really have much going for you at all. Without the well known names in the sport, the fans more than likely won't be too interested. Also what about the young guys, the future of this sport, like Travis MacDonald, Trevor Fontaine, Spencer Graff, Cardell Potter, Nick Vanstrydonk. Are they going to be interested in this? If these sleds are slower, then I'm sure they aren't going to be interested unless they have some big time competition.

There was some talk about these `A' sanction races and `B' sanction races too. What is this supposed to mean? An `A' sanction race will be where F1 is and `B' will be for races where there is ONLY champ as the main event. Basically classifying champ as second best right from the start. Mean while it's the class that is keeping this sport going.

Has anyone read PJ's post "Don't blame champ racing."?
If you haven't, then you should. He has some great points and he's a RACER!!!

I think that is what has been lost through this whole discussion (or argument you can say). The RACERS are the MOST important part of this sport. Nothing will happen unless you have their support in it and make it easy for them to do (has to be affordable for them too)

NEWS FLASH ! The champ class is the strongest class going right now. There is such a large field of competition with racers ranging from 16 years of age to 40 something.

If these sleds cost more, then you will be hurting the sport more than helping it. There are A LOT of underdogs in the champ class and A LOT of teams that do not have huge sponsorships. These guys will be done racing if you over turn the largest class, especially if it's the least expensive. MONEY MONEY MONEY we don't all have it!!!!! And I think lots of people forget how far teams have to travel to get to all the races. It's not cheap that's for sure.

New class!! Going to draw crowds for a couple years maybe, but it will all go back to how it is now.

The manufactures care about SnoX right now. IT'S TELEVISED!! Therefore it draws more fans.

So maybe we should be more focused on what we already have to race and more on advertising and media. Look at the 4 biggest races of the year, CPTC opener and championship, Eagle River Derby, and Valcourt. The crowds seem to be huge at these events.

To kind of end off my rant,
Focus on 1) MEDIA/ADVERTISING of race events
2) Work on the smaller classes. (We really need more racers in these classes)
4)Have the Vintage guys come out and race at our races. They bring in crowds and more people can race in Vintage.

Lastly, TALK TO THE RACERS, TEAMS, and the organizations that help us have a place to race every weekend in the winter. These are the people that matter!

I would also like to ask "2tracksnflatout", who are you? What is your real name? Are you a racer, team member, or a person involved in one of our main racing organizations?

I'm sure there will be feedback to this and I'm okay with that. We all have our own opinions. But as a fan and family member to people involved in this sport I felt I need to say something.

Thanks for reading my rant and I apologize if anything I have said offends any of you,
Sam MacDonald

*Niece of a CHAMP RACER - 2x Eagle River World Champion to be exact!

About a month and a half till the season begins!! Hope to see you all out in Beausejour for the season opener!!!!!
GO TEAM MPH!!!! =)

Thank you for the feedback. Also thanks for answering to who you are. I believe that it may put some more people at ease when they read this. Many people come on here and bring up issues of this sport and how it should/could be fixed, yet you never know if these people have observed from the side lines or have actually experienced being a part of team and know how things work. Which results in rants such as mine and the many other post before mine.
It is VERY good to hear about all that is happening and that the young drivers are on the high priority list. Also it is good to see that you're trying to keep the costs down. Therefore the champ driver can make an easy switch if they wish to.
Just one last thing to add about the beginning of your response. Because this is just typing you often cannot tell in what kind of tone people are trying to speak in (although on this forum it only seems to be angry). So I do hope the Dear "Fan" in quotations isn't implying because of my post that I must not be a fan. As a 21 year old I have only been going to these races for 14 years and basically been brought up with watching the Champ guys. I TRULY am a fan of the sport! And as I stated before, so many people comment on here and you never know who they are and what they're about. Now knowing what you have told me about yourself it is easier to read your posts and take them seriously because you are not just someone who has `watched' the races and wants to give their two cents on how things should go. You actually understand how hard it is for our teams to get a big time sponsorship deal (especially for us folks here in Canada, for some reason it seems to be a little harder) and what the costs really are to take part in this sport.

I hope everything ends up working and everyone's' hard work pays off. I really hope we get these guys on TV too. They really deserved to be noticed. And really, watching these guys whip around a track going 100mph is far more entertaining than watching RC car racing on TV (Yes, I have seen this on TV a few times and I get mad every time I see it. Like really RC CARS! Hah).

Anyways, Thanks again for your feedback and clearing things up and I really do hope this will help our sport!!!!!
