500 vs. 600

Postby kryptonite163 » October 13th, 2002, 3:59 pm

can anyone tell me the glaring difference between the 2002 polaris xcsp 500 and the xcsp 600? i was told that the only difference is a slightly higher top end speed for the 600 and it may not be worth the money to invest in the 600...i purchased the 500 (red x-package...beautiful sled) and cannot wait to ride this winter. will this sled hold its own with the 600's on the trail this year? any comments from owners or anyone with insight into this sled is welcome too...thanks

500 vs. 600

If you're into speed maybe you should of held out for the 600,my buddy has a 2000 500 xcsp and his runs great but it won't touch a 600 rotax,or a 500 rotary vaved 500 rotax up to 60-70 but blows by like I was tied to a post. They like gas maybe tuning can cure this, but on the tight twistie trails probably won't notice a difference,a 500 Polaris runs good enough anyway,it should make a great sled for you and good luck.

500 vs. 600

My buddy has an '01 500 XCSP that I've ridden quite a bit. Really is a nice sled. If you ride mostly on trails, you should be fine with this sled. In good conditions He'll get it to top 100 mph (on speedo). Gas mileage is about 10 mpg if he rides her hard to about 14-15 mpg if he takes it a little easier. He's got about 2100 miles on it and never stuck a dime into it for repairs, only routine maintainance.

Good luck and enjoy the new sled.

Lightweight and quick on the trail. Just keep it on the pipe and you will be tough.
Oil would be cheaper if the greenies stopped using it.

My friend got the 500 for his wife and the 600 for himself and he was very dissapointed when he looked over going across the lake and she was about a half a sled length behind . there is no real diff. you made a good choice .
