MXZ: 600 or 700?

Postby SnowFever » October 22nd, 2002, 5:34 am

I am looking at getting a 00' to 02' used MXZ. How much difference is there between the 600 and 700? I am not really thinking about a 500 at all right now. Is the 600 sufficient enough for the U.P. Trails? Just heard the Dakotas have winter storm warnings. Winter is here. Any input would be nice from anyone with experience with the 600 or 700.

I think they're both good sleds and you'll be happy with either. Why don't you let your weight make up your mind? Maybe go with the 600 if you are under 200, 700 if over?

MXZ: 600 or 700?

I think that is a good suggestion. i weigh 170, and i have ridden a mxz600 since 99, and it is plenty fast to have tons of fun. of course a 700 will always be faster, but for me a 600 is plenty in the twisty U.P. trails.

Keep in mind that depending on your insurance situation, they usually jack the rates up tremendously for anything over 600cc. that was another factor when i bought mine.

MXZ: 600 or 700?

Well I ride an 02 700 MXZ and love it. I ride with mostly 800's and if they are stock you can hang with them no problem. A 600 on the other hand will start to run out of steam at 80mph on the fast straits of the trail, where I have never had a problem keeping up with the 800's.

I have a 2000 MXZ700 I weigh in the 250+ range.I can stay with my friends 2001MXZ800 no problem. he's about the same weight as me. I think someone in the 160-180 range on a MXZ600 would be as fast if not faster in the tite stuff,, but get the 700 oh yeahh!!! steve

Either one is a good choice! You should check insurance preimums with your agent on both before you buy though! You'll pay more for the 700 obviously!

MXZ: 600 or 700?

Postby SnowFever » October 22nd, 2002, 9:29 am

I do weigh in around 175 so maybe the 600 will be sufficient enough. The new chassis came out in 99' if i'm correct, have they made any changes since 99' that are worth getting on the newer models? Also, what type of mileage and price should i expect to look for? Thanks for the advice!

Yes SNOWFEVER you are correct! The ZX platform was new in '99,however they didn't build any 700's until 2000. Remember the one yaer only MXZ 670 H.O.'s in '99. In '01 they went to the SC-10 II suspension and in '02 the SC-10 III. Try to get an '01 or '02 if you can afford it!

Snowfever, I have a 2000 mxz 600, weigh 185 and it's plenty fast. Interested in selling along with trailer and gear. Sled has 1350 miles, garage stored. Same with trailer. In Akron OH area, call if interested 330-524-3359.
