Polaris Edge rattling front suspension

Postby Country » October 29th, 2002, 4:27 am

I just bought a 2002 700 Edge which I haven't had the opportunity to ride yet. But I have noticed from my frequent trips to the garage to start it to just hear it run, that the support bar on both sides of the front suspension rattles loud enough to hear it distinctly over the motor. Is this a problem others have seen and is there a grommet that can be bought to eliminate the rattle?

Thanks,

This is common for all polaris' - they now have a new sway bar block they are $9.00 ea that do not rattle. Just put them on my sled last week and I have an 02xc8.

I will try and find the p/n for you.
Recently I was asked to play in a golf tournament.

At first I said, "Naw, I haven't been playing that well."

Then they said to me, "Come on, it's for handicapped and blind kids."

Then I thought...

Thanks for the reply. I was a little disappointed with the sled when I heard the rattling. Makes me feel better that it is a common problem. A part number would be great if you can find it.

Thanks again,

To install them, you just have to pull the main bolt out of the trailing arm by your foot. It actually has a nut on the other side underneath the tunnell (Polaris never used to do that - it always use to thread into part of the footwell, now the bolt runs all the way through). Anyways, once you have the bolt off, you can move the trailing arm outward until the sway bar comes out and replace the old block with the new one.

country.....If you have the M-10 suspension, you better make sure you are always riding in a few inches of fresh or loose snow. The cooling fins in the tunnel are way too small to keep the engine cool on ice or hard packed trails! My buddy rode his 02 600 Edge M-10 last season and I can't tell you how many times we had to wait on him till the engine cooled down. When it overheats, it will bog and barely move itself....And he was just as annoyed with the rattle as you are...you'd think they would have put those parts on from the factory! Anyway, I think the Polaris is history this year...he's stepping up to a REV !

I didn't even notice the noise on mine last year while riding. This Fall, while running it on a stand with the skis hanging free, I could hear it loud and clear. You guys can hear it in the snow with weight on the skis? How many miles are on your sled?
Oil would be cheaper if the greenies stopped using it.

Ohio - Polaris had a service bulletin out for that last year and it is ONLY the small block 500's and 600's - does not affect the 7's or 8's - all he had to do is take into the dealer - they add an extra cooling unit and a few other things - all covered by Pol. That only happens on the sleds with M-10's.
