Weight... as in your arse (skinny woman goes faster than fat

Postby Bug Eyed » December 13th, 2003, 2:29 am

I have a buddy who is a pretty big dude, near 300 lbs (I am out of shape ineeed, but I'm short so I weigh 145) and he says he can go the fastest out of all of us on the lake. Using the same sled, he claims at the top end we little guys are spinning the track a bit and his fat a$$ helps him to dig into the snow, therefore getting better traction and going faster.

I think lighter people would go faster than heavier because of the power needed to push the sled through the (very hard packed) snow.

What do you guys think?

So the guy might hook up quicker, but that ballast will kill him down the trail. If the bigger the quicker, the RX-1 would be at bonneville snow flats. I doesn't matter if the weight is on the seat or the sled, the motor doesn't know the dif. You won't be spinning the track on the big end anyway.

It doesn't matter who weighs how much or what they are on. The fastest thing around will always be a 17 year old on a borrowed sled. He can go faster because he doesn't know how long his bones take to heal. I know how long it takes and how much pain, and that limits how fast I can go.
If you are in the ditch, upside down, and the sled's on top of you, you are doing something wrong.....

Set up the sled for oval racing and see who can keep the highest speed through the corners.

A heavier person will have an advantage hooking up on the bottom end, but once you hit high speeds the extra weight will just slow you down
