1999 mach 1 700 triple

Postby DIGITAL FARM » January 11th, 2004, 11:08 am

I just purchased a 1999 mach1 and was looking for some information about these 700 triple motors.

1) What do you really have to watch out for with this motor?

2) The motor seams to overheat the plugs after 10 minuts of great performance. What might be the cause of this?

3)Any known problems with the fule pumps for this 700 triple motor? Would a fule pump from a 800 triple be the same?

When I first get on this sled on the first ride of the day it runs great for about 10-15 minuts, then it starts to baug when you give it gas. It sounds like it wants to run right but it will continue to do this until i let the sled sit for a while. I change the plugs, and the same thing will happen again. When I pull the plugs to look at them, the two end plugs look ok. The center cylinder is quite a bit more overheated. I guess I need a little help on trouble shooting this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to email direct please feel free.

check carburation, jetting and plugged pilots first to eliminate that and then continue

If you are overheating the plugs you are running too hot. If I were you i'd check the pistons and head for damage. you may have already burned it up.
