I would recommend going with at least the 600 just for the better suspension if anything else.....

i have a rev 600 H.O. and love it. before this sled i had a 99 mxz 600 which is the same motor that's in the 500ss (i don't know why they call it a 500....don't get me started, girlfriend....)

anyway, the motor is good and reliable, but doesn't have class-leading HP. i believe the 600 mill in the 500ss makes around 105-109hp, while the 600 H.O. makes around 120hp. the F6 and polaris 600 both make around 120hp as well.

i don't know what the difference in suspension or other goodies are between the 600 H.O. trail and the 500ss.

hope this helps. good luck with whatever you end up with.

500SS is an outstanding sled, especially when you consider the money compared to others. 600HO is certainly faster, but reliability and fuel economy on the 500SS is incredible. You'll love it.
Body Armor SAVES LIVES!!!
COURTESY on the trails is CONTAGIOUS!!! Slow down EARLY for oncoming sleds!!!
ONLY pass from behind when signaled to do so!!!

THEN.....and only then...RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!

You WILL NOT be disappointed with a 500ss. My wife and I each have one and we love the motor. Or last ride we both got just under 17 MPG. I can't say enough about this motor. Obviously, sales were good, as Skidoo is offering it again for 2006 !!!
