I'm considering planning one last trip up north. Anyone know when the trails are going to close for the season.

Provided we have adaquate snow cover, trails here in Wisconsin will remain open until midnight on March 31st.

The most important thing to try and find is a resort that is OUT OF TOWN! You don't want to have to go into any of the towns.

The next thing to try and find is a bar that is local that you can get gas at, once again to stay out of towns.

The bridge, road crossings, and in town trails are going to be the worst no matter how much snow is on the ground.

Most trails around here (Eastern Lakeshore on peninsula) are closed, or in bad shape. Peninsula (State) Park was still open, but unsure of condition. We have been getting small snow squalls through, but they are just covering the muddy ground. They are calling for a good storm for next week though.

The Vilas county area (Eagle River) is still in relatively good shape. Phone 715-479-5185 for a no BS trail report. The young lady you will hear on the recorded message "tells it like it is".

The Eagle River/St. Germain area is still good as long as you can get outside of the town. Last weekend, once we got 2-3 miles outside of town the trails were completely snow covered and in good condition.

Trails this weekend in Presque Isle, WI were awesome. Trails around Mercer to Hurley were awesome. traingrade around Mercer is tough in spots. Overall the riding we did this weekend from Hurley to Mellen, Clam Lake, etc. were fabulous. We are going back this weekend. 300+ miles last weekend was just too good to not want to get one last weekend in. So you wear some carbide and hyfax. Who cares. Change on Good Friday and winterize till next year!
