How is the Z 440?

Postby 250exdude » December 28th, 2001, 1:53 am

I currently ride a viper but i dont want to jump it because yamaha's cant take jumps very well. I used to have an Xc 600 it jumped well but couldn't take it. My first sled ever whic hwas an XCF 440 jumped awesome and was very reliable. I put 10700 miles on it and it finally
blew up last year so i sold the xc and the xcf and got a viper. I also have a honda 250ex it is pretty new but ive come to relize that it is not tough like i thought and i really miss the jumps over the road and dow nhill and i just miss jumping. so i want to sell my wheeler and get a fan cooled 440. Ive heard the new xcf's arent reliable so i was thinkin about a Z 440. Ca na Z 440 take a beating? i know the 370's can. PLease respond on ne problems with the z 440. Thanks.

250exdude,

I have a nephew (14 years old) who is a motocross racer in the summer and now will be racing sleds with his new snopro his dad bought him for this winter.

Anyway, he sold his '99 Z440 to get his snopro, and I've watched him fly across everything when he had that Z440! The kid is nuts, like most moto/snocross racers are! This machine still looked brand new when they sold it! Only problem they had with it was the speedo cable broke on it. Probably because he had the needle buried on it all the time! LOL!

I think the Z440 is an awesome, reliable sled for a fan.

Or, if you have the cash, by a Polaris 440 proX. Have a buddy of mine that has one of those. That's one hell of a sled for a 440 fan!

Brand new z 440. If your big, they can't take much of a beating in the rear with the cheap shocks.

Motor makes 50hp...

I would look for a Z440 Sno-Pro. It has all the cool stuf of the liquid cooled ZR Sno-Pro, but has a fan cooled 440..Very Quick and tuff

The viper is a great sled. Hiowever i love to jump sled and the viper is clearly not made to handle that. IT is unstable in the air. But i love that viper. ! suggetion though change the stock carbides they reall suck bad. OTher wise it is a great sled. awesome low end and mid range. I got mine going 84 in 1/8th of a mile!!! I do not think it is as fast as every1 thinks. I got mine go 98 with more left to go but not a whole lot more. my guess is between 105 and 110. But it handles great!!! U will like it.
