Is anyone else disappointed with the HPV-27 clutch. Can anything be done to stop the hang time at aprox6000 rpm while slowing down

Throw away the inner half of the clutch and put in a rollerized unit with a red erlandson spring. You won't believe the differance it makes!

Wish It was that easy. The rollerized shive wont work with this eletronic reverse piece of s#$t and the whole assy is over $600 through Skidoo.I am going to start to look at aftermarket units

as far as I know x-8, if ya wanna use that reverse, then yer just gonna have to live with it. There's really not much adjustment on the clutch other than the compression setting, and of course you know there is no torsional setting. I guess it's the trade off for a lightweight reverse package??? I've never heard of an aftermarket company that has a resolution to this clutch...

ZR800 I dont have reverse ordered it without it so I would not have to deal with the secondary, got one anyway. E-mailed Ski doo for info on this thing (spring rates, optional cams) They told me no adjustment nessary and thanked me for buying a skidoo

Shoman,After running up to 8000rpm,come off the throttle the engine speed drops to apox 6000 rpm and just kind of sits there for a second and slowly drops to 5000 and back shifts rpm jumps to aprox 5300 ( like downshifting a standard car) and finlay droping to the point of disengagement . My 99 600 never did that. Called goodwin, said typical of the clutch and I wont feel it on the trials, yet to be seen

try to find a secondary at a salvage yard or somewhere maybe? Get one for a 98 Mach 1 as it has the splined shaft and will bolt right on, and it will be tuneable. OR, maybe the cheaper route would be to change the jackshaft and run a keyed secondary, either a skidoo or get a shaft to run a reverse cam cat clutch....I'd go with the cat clutch myself, and you should be able to pick up used stuff pretty cheap.

what your sense is okay, and it doean't effect performance. There are 3 cams available from skidoo---50/47, 47, 47/44
they all use the same spring (purple) except for the fan cools.
I understand goodwin has multiple cams available already but have not bothered....50/47 is a well rounds trail cam.
Its is a better seconday...larger cam with larger bushing surface, less likely to bind and more efficient. It will be more tuneable soon.
I'm working on a clutch setup for the machine, I will be testing Sunday.
We have3 800X's going to do some lake bashing...istalled speed tracks tonite. Anyway, I will keep it posted.
